As TSB is slowly growing, more and more people join the community. Sometimes it’s nice to know and learn a bit more about the people behind the community, the people making it all possible as well as to hear from it’s members, the people that make up the community. We thought it would be nice to spotlight a member of the community every week to get to know them. This week is the twenty seventh in the series with me, Ratking15 the one who writes this all up…yep it’s my turn now.
So, who is Ratking15?
“Uuuuhhhhh well one way to put it… is that I am just a rat who once united all the rats beaming their king. Afterwards I went to the surface of the planet explored it while studying animals around, particularly the evolved monkeys who call themselves humans. I did this by sneaking into their society by just pretending to be one of them and using their own ‘internet’ to ‘buy/make’ a 23 year old looking robot human I could control from a nearby outpost den as I learn about these humans more.
Or more simply I am a human like you.”
What is your job in TSB?
“I never really applied to be staff, just ended up with it by helping out and saying “can I help with this?” when I could and able. As a result I’m now a Team-speak moderator, but I also manage/write up the interviews so the community can learn more about selected members of the community. When I say selected members I am referring to the last sections of these articles where I will be putting down who I want to do the interview next week and their question.”
What makes you happy?
“For this I am going to steal a little bit of Reno’s meaning behind his interview answers last week (haha, now you have to look at his interview to understand a bit more) and say that it’s playing games and have a good time with friends. As in the last few months I’ve not had so much time to play games, but while I’ve been doing something like one of these interviews, I have been on Team-Speak talking away to people and it’s nice, much nicer than doing it is silence. So yeah, playing games and talking with people, even better if combined together.”
What is your #1 song on your playlist?
“I have never really had a constant #1 song that I listen to as I end up just liking a new song more than the rest for a while before integrating into a playlist and then it fades in with the rest of them. Most of the songs I end up with on my playlists I have found from the NSC (No Copyright Sounds) YouTube channel and other songs are from YouTube recommendations (very rare), game-soundtracks or anime tracks that I just like.
So my newest most liked song is currently…Tristam’s song called Questions”
What is your all-time favorite game at this point in time? and why?
“Same thing as above with my #1 song, I simply rotate which one is the best as with games some do better than others and get my itch I have for that type of the game more than the others. As I have Arma 3 being my most playtime of 1538 accumulated game on steam which is mainly through playing it here on TSB, but if I exclude that then I have Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain at 223 hours.
If I go back even further to before I found out about steam, I know that I put more than that (1538 hours) into two games (separately), Rome Total War and Age of Empires 2 definitive edition. I remember the reasons why I played those two so much being I just enjoyed the freedom of choice (campaigns included) with the empire/civilization building along with the strategy battles; that if I get a bit bored of watching I can just let a mosh-pit happen and watch it all go down while everything burns. So as a result I am going to go with Age of Empires 2 definitive edition as Rome Total War let me down a lot with how the diplomacy system was just a constant question of ‘why is the AI saying no to this amazing detail for them that just gets me map information!?’…Along with my profits going suddenly negative and finally city overcrowding being inevitable.”
How long have you been a gamer? And how long have you been in TSB?
“I’ve attempted to find out when this was by looking through my email and YouTube for a rough time as it was after 2005 (YouTube’s birth) since I didn’t discover gaming at all till I found it through YouTube as I was in primary school at that time. My earliest email about games was around early 2009 but I played games before that as then I would have been in secondary school so 2004 then as I would have been around 8 maybe.
How long I’ve been in TSB about 3 years as I joined in early March of 2017.”
What got you started in Gaming? And why did you join TSB?
“As to how I got into gaming, again it was due to YouTube but mainly my Brother played Rome Total War and Age of Empires 2 definitive edition along with one other game that I have recently beginning thinking was Empire Earth III. I watched him play these games over his shoulder on a small screen in the dark.
I joined TSB since I was into Arma 3 heavily at the time (Liru’s stuff) and the previous community had turn hostile so we migrated to here and now I am here for things other than Arma 3. (I did try to search for the previous community as a result of this and I found some interesting results.)”
What do you consider your greatest gaming moment/achievement? and in TSB? Can you tell us a bit about it?
“O.o uh oh no, I was meant to be holding on to those consciously instead of remembering them once in a while? Oops, as I’ve had too many really to hold onto one specific one in the course of my time gaming as that’s a lot of hours of moments to remember.
I think in TSB though, it was where I was the hide and seek master in Liru’s zombie survival events as in one of them I had just escaped from a horde ambushing us at a semi reinforced gas station (I had nothing). So instead of following the road where other people were going and causing noise I stayed low and went across a field to hide under a bush till the fires went out and everything calmed down…Thing is that chance didn’t come in time before Liru decided that I was AFK maybe and put the Player zombie spawn right next to me.
You might think that I should have been dead but nope as I said before since they players missed me long enough for non-zombie players to arrive in a helicopter to pick me up. Simple escape at that point if I wasn’t thought to have been AFK and so Liru waited to cabletie me so I could be moved into the heli while I was ready to stand up and run for the chopper. Safe to say that it went horribly wrong as the player zombies murdered us as I tried to hide once again since the heli flew off. I still have those video files and have yet to edit them together with Liru’s POV to make two good videos…(I don’t have his POV but YouTube does)
Now saying about that had reminded me of something else I have done which is probably considered more crazy to do rather than being an achievement. I’ve been keeping hold of what was known at the time as a UA or Unknown Artifact but is called a Thargoid Sensor in the game Elite Dangerous. Reason why no one would keep hold of it is that the game is a space flying sim sort of game and the object damages parts of your ship over time, oh and it’s illegal and highly valuable so everyone wants it from me.
But I still have this object to this day since it was first found around 4 and a half years now and it has become a bit less dangerous in the last year to hold onto. (You can now safely transport and keep them, Red.)”
What was your biggest gaming blunder? and in TSB?
“I feel that I have had a lot of mess up to learn from but none that I feel were that bigger than the rest to be the biggest, that’s going for in and outside of the TSB. The main thing in common with them that I still struggle with is communicating properly as more than a few gaming sessions have been messed up as a result inside and outside of TSB.”
If you were one of the Council members in TSB, what would you change, and why?
“I would try a few things out to get communication of the community to the staff working better somehow as in the past TSB has had these issues and I still feel like it is still an issue currently just a bit less than before. A example of this maybe having a suggestions page on the website (Answer: Link here. red.) with maybe a poll as to what should be implemented/changed or having a page up saying about how to go about creating a sort of side group in TSB for a game or gaming genre (Answer: There is no guide, as it differs per game/group, just contact the council. Red.).
Those are ideas off the top of my head from things that have happened in the past and they wouldn’t be anything that I would put in unless the rest of the Council agrees on as I have one view and there’s more than just my one. (Why does that sound so political like? *Shivers*)”
What has been some of the best moments you’ve had?
“Ah dang it I’ve used them all up on previous questions…well they were all gaming and this one I can use anything so…it’s when I moved out of the family home and went into my own little place. As it came with a few troubles that I needed to face like cooking meals for yourself while them being healthy. But the extra freedom I got from not being bothered about something from my family so much was nice along with doing others things more easily due to location. It does mean though that I can’t just go into the next room and say hi to any of my family if I want to talk in person instead of the phone. (I’m the techy kid of the family)”
What do you typically use to game?
“An Intel I7 7700k, RTX 2080 TI, 16GB DDR4 ram all in a tower PC these plugged into it: Razer Death Adder mouse, Dual-shock 4 (PS4) controller, hotas joystick (flight sim stuff), Corsair K95 platinum RGB keyboard with rapid fire cherry keys. I have two screens so I can have task manager, Team-Speak, Temperatures, OBS and of course the game I’m playing up and look at them all without alt-tabbing.
Oh and also a VR Index for VR games.”
If you were to describe TSB in as few words as possible, what would they be? (10 words max!)
“Slowly growing gaming community from Arma 3 to other games.”
Favorite food and/or drink?
“Strawberry Milkshakes or just milkshakes in general have been my go-to drink. Food however….I want to say the same as before with #1 song and favorite game but I feel like I’ve repeated that enough so I’ll just say cheesy pasta swizzles with cucumber on the side. It has cooked ham, cheese, onion and garlic are some of it’s ingredients the rest I don’t know as I need to talk to my parents about getting the recipe as an online search for it did not yield it for me. :(”
If you were to pick the next interview to be published, who would it be, and why?
“Sevatar27 as he has just become a staff member of a new part of TSB, the Strategy Group so he can say how it’s been.”
What would you ask this person you want interviewed?
“How is it going in being staff member of a new group within TSB from just being a member?”
Now Reno Sonozaki had a question from his interview: “To puddi or not to puddi?”
“*Sigh* Reno why did you go and do that, the interviews were kept clean before that… Also look to what the answer of Shakespeare for that answer you puddi. ;D”
